Research Plan

Friday 16th  November 2012

Today we had a group discussion about the research we would be doing in order to find out who the target audience of our music video is. We identified that the gene of the music video is 'electronic'. Therefore for our research, we would firstly need to find out what type of people like 'electronic music'.  For example, what age groups listen to it, whether males or females listen to it more etc.
This would be necessary to why to see who is more likely to watch our music video when it is published.

Once identifying who listens to 'electronic' music, we would also need to find out what they like about it and why they listen to it. This would be vital so we could know what to include in our video in order to get that audience to listen to and like it.  For instance, they could be attracted to the special effects, background dancers, mis-en-scene or just the music artist.

We could also find out who their favourite electronic artist and why they like them. This would be beneficial to know so that we could make our music artist a very likeable person and as interesting as possible in order to get many fans. Fans would allow many hits and viewson youtube and are more likely to buy the music.

In order to find all this out, we would be distributing questionnaires -5 boys 5 girls. In this way, the results of the questionnaire would be fair as there is an equal amount of both genders, which would make my research more representative and impartial. I felt as though this is the best way of conducting my research to obtain the best results as it would give me a variety of views and opinions from both genders.

From our questionnaires, we will then shortlist 6 people to include in our focus groups. This is chosen by whoever stands out from the questionnaires that we think would contribute positively to our research. The focus groups would give us more qualitative research and we would recieve more in-depth responses.
